A Husband and Wife Team

Walking Sticks of Williamsburg is a small venture, featuring the woodworking skills of Tom Abrials and assistance from his wife, Bev.

cw3Tom Abrials, a retired Army Warrant Officer and Vietnam veteran, has always been a interested in woodworking. He started with functional colonial period muzzle loader rifles and knives. Using his experience with rifle stocks, he translated the stock finishing techniques required for a fine rifle to the craft of making walking sticks.

Tom prefers to highlight the wood grain with an application of special stains, several coats of oils, and a special varnish. The end result is a walking stick that is like a piece of furniture and a pleasure to use in public.

One recent customer bought a tobacco walking stick as a present for her boyfriend, who takes the stick with him every place he goes — he just loves it!

Tom and his wife, Bev, live in Williamsburg, Virginia. On one excursion in the historic center of Colonial Williamsburg a group of tourists asked Tom if he was the Town Crier because his walking stick was so unique and beautiful. They wanted to know where he got it and asked if they could get one.
